Bush Advanced Veterinary Imaging

Bush Advanced Veterinary Imaging understands that you want the best possible care for your pet. We also know that when your pet is sick, your veterinarian will want to determine the root of the problem in order to develop an appropriate treatment plan. We are here to assist in this process. As a company, our mission is to advance the understanding of disease in companion animals through advanced imaging. This means we apply the very latest in advanced technology, unrivaled experience and expertise to help your veterinarian generate a diagnosis.

At BAVI, we use both high-field MRI and helical CT scanning to achieve exceptional quality, multi-planar images. MRI and CT vastly improve diagnostic yield, as well as therapeutic and surgical planning, through 3-dimensional visualization of tissue structures and associated pathology. The extent of disease can be drastically underestimated by traditional imaging. In fact, without the use of these advanced imaging modalities, many diseases can go unrecognized.

Rapid Results:

We are available 6 days a week to ensure that your pets get the imaging they need, when they need it.

Expert Staff:

Our onsite veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians, along with our consulting veterinary radiologists, are thoroughly trained in the application of MRI and CT specifically for veterinary medicine.

Cutting-edge Technology:

We use a high-field magnet, designed exclusively for veterinary use. This enables us to provide your veterinarian with high-quality diagnostic images and reports in a timely manner.

Dependable Results/Quality Images:

Our team continues to develop imaging protocols and technologies specifically for veterinary use. These efforts enable us to provide veterinarians with precise, reliable insight into the nature of a pet’s problem.

Consider Advanced Imaging:

  • In situations where other diagnostic tests have failed to give a diagnosis
  • When you are hesitant to pursue invasive procedures
  • When you need an accurate diagnosis to make difficult decisions regarding the care of your pet

MRI provides exceptional soft tissue detail, making it extremely useful in imaging the nervous system, joints, cardiovascular structures and the abdominal organs. CT provides exceptional detail of the skeletal system, thoracic cavity and urinary system.

Specific Uses For MRI And CT Are As Follows:

• Seizure patients
• Ataxia
• Patients with vestibular symptoms
• Paresis
• Neck or back pain
• Lameness
• Abnormal nasal drainage or swelling
• Complex fractures
• Thoracic imaging
• Abdominal imaging
• Defining tumor characteristics and boundaries

We Make It Easy

Your and your pet's comfort is very important to us. You will be immediately greeted by the professional staff at BAVI. The staff and veterinarian will acquaint you with the facility and the procedure.

All patients will have a full physical examination in anticipation of general anesthesia. Once the exam is completed and all of your questions have been answered, your pet will be given a pre-medication if indicated.

Every patient will then have an intravenous catheter placed. Once the IV is in place, we will induce anesthesia, intubate the patient, and maintain anesthesia with a gas anesthetic. The imaging study will then be performed. Full patient monitoring will be maintained, using MRI compatible monitoring equipment.

Once the imaging is complete, images will be submitted to a board-certified radiologist for review. Your pet will be discharged once fully recovered. The radiologist’s report will be returned to your veterinarian within 24 hours and they will then follow up with you regarding further treatment and care.

Doctors:

Matthew Uzzle, DVM
Matthew Uzzle, DVM Dr. Uzzle was born in upstate New York and moved to Virginia at the age of 14 and now considers Virginia his home. His love for animals and interest in veterinary medicine began through the personal experiences he had with his own pets. Seeing the care and compassion that veterinarians displayed for his animals made him want to do the same for others. Dr. Uzzle graduated with honors from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 and was in private practice in the area until 2008 when he joined the TLC imaging team. He was recruited because of his thorough case work-ups and his attention to detail. With clinical interests in cardiology, neurology, anesthesia, pain management and advanced imaging, he was ideal for The LifeCentre. Dr. Uzzle works very closely with the neurologists at Bush Veterinary Neurology Service and has formed many beneficial relationships with internists, criticalists and anesthesiogists over the years. He is committed to the advancement of veterinary medicine by providing clients and local veterinarians advanced imaging through CT and MRI.
